"I'm Brittany - I'm a 34 year old mother of two. I have a 15 year old son and an eight year old son and have been happily married to my husband for the last 16 years. When I had my first child 15 years ago I gained 60 pounds during my pregnancy and I just haven't seemed to be able to lose the weight. My physician set me up with a nutritionis. I met with her and I started the food journaling and the daily weigh-ins and I was held accountable for making activities in my daily life be a priority. The best tool I had was talking with my physician and asking the questions that I needed anwers to.
Four weeks before surgery I went on an all liquid diet - it was the hardest thing I have ever done. With any diet that I've ever tried it was very difficult but I hit it head-on, I was so determined. I was on a two-week liquid diet post-surgery. Now my eating habits are different. I eat smaller portions and I do eat more often, but I take about a quarter of a cup. Now I have to prioritize what it is that I want to eat. I really have to think about how much and what's going to be the best for me to eat at that time.
The pre diabetes came from my weight because I was significantly overweight so when I got that diagnosis that was the game changer for me. Everything's so different for me now. I am off my pre diabetic medication so that's a huge plus and there's a lot of changes that have happened for me that are so positive. I work out five days a week, sometimes six, so that is a huge part of my lifestyle now. That's a huge part of my daily activity and working out whether it be walking my dog or going to the gym.
I've lost 84 pounds.
