Founder Dr. Ralph de la Torre becomes Chairman and CEO, Steward North America, and Executive Chairman, Steward International, overseeing strategic business directives and global growth as Shetty assumes day-to-day leadership across Steward’s North America operations.

DALLAS (MARCH 16, 2021) – Steward Health Care, the nation’s largest private, physician-owned health care network, today announced Dr. Sanjay Shetty as President of Steward North America. The newly created role will have Shetty, an 11-year veteran of Steward, leading the day-to-day operations of Steward North America, as founder Dr. Ralph de la Torre becomes Chairman and CEO of Steward North America and Executive Chairman of Steward International to continue overseeing the company’s strategic business directives and unprecedented global growth.

Since 2020, Shetty has served as President of Steward’s South Region, overseeing operations across Texas, Florida, Louisiana and Arkansas. Throughout his tenure at Steward, he has also held the roles of President of Steward Medical Group and President of Steward Health Care Network, as well as Vice President of Radiology, bringing a breadth of knowledge to this North America role to benefit Steward’s patients, physicians and staff.

A graduate of Harvard College (AB Biochemical Sciences summa cum laude), Harvard Medical School (MD) and the Wharton School (MBA), Shetty has held teaching positions at the Harvard Medical School and Tufts University School of Medicine, as well as authored numerous articles, reviews and op-eds as a practicing radiologist actively involved in the state and national level of the American College of Radiology. He lives in Dallas with his wife and children and is active in many philanthropic endeavors, including serving as a Trustee of the Phillips Exeter Academy.
